Writing Guidelines and Formatting
Compiled by Editor-in-Chief, Tamara McHatton (tamara@suitemag.com)
Senior Editor, Patti Rebmann (patti@suitemag.com)
Send all proposals/queries to submissions@suitemag.com

All text must be Arial, 10 pt; bold and italics are fine, left justified, NO specialized formatting (web, html, headings, etc), NO underlines. E-mail query first on all submissions. Any submission not adhering to the guidelines will not be used.

Top, side, and bottom advertisements – All photos must be in jpeg or gif format only. Top "ad" is 468 x 60 pixels, one only. Side “ad” is 130 x 150 pixels, three each (can be three different ones). Bottom “ad” is 565 x 60 pixels, one only. If the writer wants these to link somewhere, they must include the link (and only one link…it's too hard to do separate links for each, then multiply that by 150 pages!). For specific area pictures see info below. *Note - we try our best to make these areas available for contributors but paid advertizers get first dibs on these areas.

*Feature 3 – 1500 to 2000 words, same picture requirements.

Heat Between the Sheets –- 3,000 word count, would prefer original stories written just for SUITE, but until we're able to obtain these, stories can be previously written and/or published. Writer retains rights if it's something published elsewhere, and they have permission to use it at SUITE. For articles written exclusively for SUITE -- SUITE retains the rights for the issue in which it appears; after that, if the story is used elsewhere, we request that the author please mention it was seen originally in SUITE. In other words, we can both use it for publicity, etc. Title, author, any credits that may need to be given (publisher, etc). One picture can be used @ 120 x 180 pixels either of the author, or a picture pertaining to the story. *We are currently looking for erotic romance stories, woman/man monogamous relationships only.

Exclusive Interview –- 2,000 to 3,000 word count. Write up about the person to be incorporated in a question and answer format. We want interesting people, preferably women, but doesn't have to be. Find unique, different, and interesting people…(first woman to land on aircraft carrier for example, which we showcased in November). Up to 5 pix @ 120 x 180 pixels.

Knight pictorials:
*Send proposal to Tamara beforehand –
From the largest pictorial to the smallest, they are SUITE Knight (the ultimate male), Rogues Gallery (interesting or unique jobs that women fantasize over), One Knighter (nice eye candy and personality, shorter interview), VIP Suite (celebrities), and Generations (kind of the guy next door piece, shots do not have to be sensual or sexy, but preferred). We must (okay, for now, would like to have) exclusive rights to the SUITE Knight pictures for one year as stated in the models' information. We'd like to have that for the others, but may not be able to get them, as I've already found out. I've pulled some model's pictures because the model sent them all over the place. We will work with the model if they have promotional opportunities using those pictures, but we want the SUITE name clearly marked on them. Risqué pictures are great and encouraged; bun shots allowed, but NO full frontal nudity…their ‘package' must be covered, or completely shadowed. As for the Q and A part of the pictorials…we send out a first set of questions, which will be tweaked periodically, and from there, especially on the SUITE Knight pictorial, more sets of questions will go out. We want interesting tidbits on these men so dig and delve -- bring out their personalities. All pictorials except the SUITE Knight are one page. We currently have a need for the Generations area. (three pix @ 120 x 180 pixels, short bio 100 words or less).

Indulgence Area:
Kitchen – can use recipes for the season, but would prefer interesting facts about food with one recipe and/or cooks that really stand out (such as Alton Brown, whom we did in November) with one recipe. Four pictures @ 120 x 180 pixels. 500 – 1,000 words. Currently filled.
Port O' Call – 500 – 1,000 words, up to eight pictures @ 120 x 180 pixels. Looking for the history, the tourism, the local area; quaint or unusual.
Gym – Tidbits and help on anything that will get us more fit, in a better defensive position, or healthier overall. Currently filled.
Maintenance – our local McGyver, Evan Scott is writing these, but if you have an idea you would like to see done up in an article please email Evan at evan@suitemag.com . Due to legalities and safety issues we will not do pieces involving other than nominal electrical work (no wiring).
Gardens – 750 to 1,000 word count. Again, think of luxurious hotel. Topiaries, bouquets, bugs in the grass, anything to do with gardens and decorating from them. Currently filled.

SUITE Treats Area:
Pandora's Toybox – This area highlights sex toys by different companies (for example…vibrators: which ones are the best, and then have the article written from that standpoint), as well as the newest toys coming to the market. Currently filled.
This ‘N That – 750 to 1,000 word count. A hodge podge of tidbits, or a piece that's apropos for the season. Short bio or credit can be given at the end of the article. This will also include our Trusted or Busted segment from time to time -- (myths and legends delved in to), origins about everyday things, weird or interesting facts. Currently filled.
Sensations – This is an article-based area that deals with seducing your significant other in neat and unusual ways. @2000 word count, up to 3 pictures @ 120 x 180 pixels. Currently filled.
13 th floor – for things that go bump in the nite. Can be ghosts, famous hauntings, weird occurrences, mysterious sightings or disappearances. Must be factual based! If it's about vampires and werewolves then it most go into the facts behind the legend or myth. No Q & A (although author can have email addy included for personal contact), no horoscopes or astrology. 1500 word count, up to 3 pictures @ 120 x 180 pixels. Currently filled.
Vixen – where the readers write in and ask questions about anything to do with live, love and relationships. One question is put in the magazine each month, the rest are answered directly. If you want to know something about sex, relationships, or just having fun, then please write to our very own Dr. Kayabaker. Must be noted that we are just offering advice and are not qualified analysts in any way. Questions we don't know the answer to are researched in order to supply the most factual and informative answer possible.
