From the desk of...Evan Scott
This month we're celebrating two things; our nation's birthday and SUITE's one millionth hit. Not bad for only being on-line for six months. Also, when making our press kit, Tamara has found SUITE's pages translated in all kind of languages, German, Hebrew (we think), Spanish, and Russian (?). I'm waiting to see it in Chinese.
Last week SUITE was one of the sponsors of the Chippendales show here in Melbourne, Florida. Local Clear Channel radio stations WLRQ and WBVD bring the Chippendales in town twice a year. We sold T-shirts and generated lots of new SUITE fans (as well as making contacts for more male models for SUITE). Afterwards, we interviewed WBVD 95.1 DJ Karen Buckner. As a single mom in a very demanding job she tells us how she manages.
I'd like to welcome all the new subscribers who saw SUITE at the show and signed up. You're in for quite a treat! Don't hesitate to Email us. We just started a free SUITE chat group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/suite_escape, where other Kittens (our affectionate name for our subscribers) hang out.
By the way, SUITE is trying to get the radio station to bring the Las Vegas dance troop Thunder From Down Under to Melbourne…er Florida. (read about the Thunder in the January 2005 issue). If you want to see these guys, let the radio station know (hint! hint!)
So what's going on this month? For our nation's birthday, SUITE gives you a few history lessons. Don't worry, it won't be as boring as it was in school. During our nation's struggle for independence, there was actually a female version of Paul Revere and she was only 16. We sometimes take our American flag for granted, and forget it has quite a history so check out She's A Grand Old Flag.
So, in spite of our bikini waxing article back in November 2004, you're thinking of having it done? Maybe as a little sexy gift for your guy? Pam Seres does an informal survey to find out what guys really want. Is it the landing strip (the Playboy), the Brazilian, or smooth all the way? Although woman in the military are not assigned to combat positions, they are still exposed to danger and encounter firefights, women like Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester. She is the first woman since World War II to be awarded the Silver Cross for bravery under fire when her convoy got ambushed.
Our Vixen Advisor (Liz Delisi) tackles the touchy issue of a relationship with someone who may have HIV and refuses to get tested. Is being smart bad for your love life? Find out in Smart Chick, Old Maid by Marilyn Puett. A new Internet browsing program called FireFox is challenging Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Maybe you should make the switch. Whether traveling for work or vacation, there's no reason why you can't indulge in a little self pleasure, so why not take your battery powered fun machines with you? Our Pillow Talk by JJ Giles (Pandora's Toybox) tells you how to travel with your favorite toys.
Before you head out for the movies this weekend check out the reviews by Joanne Colby to see what's worth watching.
And ladies, have we got the guys! Mortgage Broker and Mr. Romance 2nd runner up, Marc Patton will show you why it's so good to be an American as he graces the cover as Juy's SUITE Knight. Believe It or Not our VIP is Dean Cain. Did you know that Dean's not just another pretty face? He was all set to play for the Buffalo Bills until a injury sidelined him. Renaissance man Sean Rao is in our Rogues Gallery and former Guess model Alex Lundquist finishes off the group as the One Knighter.
My DIY this month covers buying an electric drill, either for you or loved one. Remember, I get my ideas for DIY from you (or if I happen to break something). So if there is something you want to do around the house, let me know, I may cover it. The only thing I won't cover is doing electrical wiring. A simple mistake can be dangerous. I want to bring you safe projects that you can do around the house with minimal or inexpensive tools. And if you mess up…that's what spackling and wood filler are for :-).
Our managing editor, Carla Arpin, has had to step down...life is a bit rough for her right now, and we send her our best. She'll still be on-board as our author liason and book review coordinator, so we haven't lost this great lady entirely. Patti Rebmann will be stepping in as SUITE's Senior Editor. Patti has been a contributing writer for SUITE, she's a published author as well as an editor. Welcome to the staff!
At Your Service,
